PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma, a serum that is rich with growth factors derived from your own blood. PRP Facials are a relatively new phenomenon, garnering popularity in the news after celebrities like Kim Kardashian West took to social media to share their experiences. Health professionals are fans of PRP as well, claiming that PRP can help with cell-turnover and healing. PRP Facials are specifically formulated to stimulate collagen production and diminish fine lines.

During a PRP Facial done by our nurse, Kaley Harris, you can expect about an hour long appointment. We will cleanse your face of any makeup or oils and then apply a topical anesthetic to numb your face. This will make the microneedling procedure more comfortable. Your blood will be drawn and spun down in our centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the PRP serum. Kaley will microneedle your face to create tiny punctures in the skin and apply PRP continuously throughout the microneedling process. This way the PRP is able to penetrate through superficial layers of your face and soak in more thoroughly than if it was applied to un-treated skin.
There are minimal restrictions after a PRP facial, but they may include avoiding smoking, vigorous exercise, saunas and steam rooms, sun exposure, alcohol and caffeine for anywhere from 24 hours to 72 hours. We will give you extensive post-PRP facial instructions when you visit our Gainesville, Florida clinic.
