Dr. Gaines performs brow lift and eyelid lift surgeries. A brow lift is also called a forehead lift, and can reduce the appearance of deep lines. This procedure is often performed in conjunction with eyelid surgery to achieve a comprehensive, natural-looking result.
Here at Gaines Plastic Surgery eyelid and brow surgery is rejuvenative surgery that we do on what we call the upper third of the face, or it’s one of those operations or series of operations that we do to help patients feel as though, a tired appearance around the eyes can be remedied. And a lot of times patients will tell us they feel as though their eyes open up and they look more awake and less tired. The operation involves little incisions around the eyelids. Upper blepharoplasty involves incisions that are typically hidden beneath the eyelids so that when the eyes are open, those incisional scars are invisible. Incisions for the lower lid blepharoplasty tend to run just beneath the eyelashes, or if it’s the transconjunctival approach, that’s an approach that’s done from within the eyelid and those scars are not on the face at all. Now with the brow lift, that’s an operation that’s frequently combined with an upper blepharoplasty if the eyebrows have settled down and they’re positioned on the forehead, Those need to be placed back in an anatomic position before we can determine how much of redundancy or extra skin on the upper lids is there because of relaxation of the lid, and how much skin on the upper lids is there because of relaxation of the eyebrow. So it’s very frequent for us to combine a brow lift with an upper eyelid operation or upper blepharoplasty. Recovery time from these operations can range anywhere from a week to up to a month, depending upon the procedure and the patient. Commonly we’ll combine either a brow lift, blepharoplasty, or both of these operations with a facelift to sort of optimize a patient’s rejuvenation depending upon their needs. Commonly after this operation, friends and family of the patients will comment that the patient looks more well rested. Patients say they hear comments that they’re much more bright eyed, and it really is one of those operations that tends to really open up the eyes.
